HELP US ACT IMMEDIATELY
On March 28, a 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar at 2:20 PM local time, followed by strong aftershocks. The epicenter was in the Sagaing area, Mandalay Province, in the northwest of the country, where ASIA has been working for years on food security projects to support a population exhausted by four years of civil war and the floods caused by Typhoon Yagi last September.The situation is dire: the death toll is increasing every day and over 3,000 buildings have collapsed, including homes, schools, hospitals and ancient temples.
We are starting a first humanitarian intervention to provide essential goods, food assistance, and hygiene support to the people of Myanmar, and we are considering further assistance to support schools and monasteries.
